What do we strive for?
Cultural wisdom is significant because it forms the foundation of our learning and our communities. At mem7iman, we work to integrate experiences from our past to cement our paths to the future. Our primary focus is on promoting shishalh culture and language, however, we recognize that culture is taught in many different ways and has many different faces. We respect the various backgrounds which influence us as our Centre, and combine individual cultural perspectives to form our unique classroom communities.
We truly believe that it takes a community to raise a child. Through the collaboration of staff and families, we are committed to a more traditional interdependent lifestyle and so, ensure its survival. It's the journey we take together in life and not our individual destinations that strengthen our children and our community. Through teamwork, we strive to co-create harmonious working environments and interactive, inspiring curriculum. Creativity is our life’s playground. Children are born with an innate intelligence and thirst for knowledge that fuels their curiosity and wonder. We guide our students as they access and build upon this knowledge. We encourage all of our students to express their original personalities through both indoor and outdoor discovery. Our shishalh teachings remind us to be connected with nature. Therefore, we are committed to spending a majority of each day exploring the outdoors. The time we spend together in nature inspires curiosity, and instills mindfulness and respect in our children as they grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally. |
